SERVICE REPLICATION IN 5G EDGE NETWORK

Abstract
Capitalizing on the network edge cloud infrastructure facilitates the development of delay-sensitive applications requiring minimal replication latency to ascertain desired quality of experience (QoE). To ensure the desired QoE, it is necessary to quickly relocate service instances to support user mobility. Existing works focus on proactive migration of service instances to reduce overall deployment time. Offering service replicas over multiple edge nodes, however, results in increased resource consumption and overall cost of deployment. In this paper, We have developed a service replica deployment policy that optimizes the deployment time to minimize QoE degradation and cost of deployment. We have specifically formulated two Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) issues that minimize QoE degradation due to service migration and replica deployment costs, incorporating the user’s mobility pattern. Results of performance assessment show the effectiveness of the proposed system compared to state-of-the-art works.
